The race for the Ikorodu Local Government Chairmanship seat has become more interesting as a formidable opposition figure, QS AbdulAzeez Adekunle Awesu, is set to contest for the much coveted position.
Awesu, who put up a strong show when he aspired for the House of Representatives about two years ago, THE IMPACT gathered, will be contesting on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The aspirant’s banners were seen to have resurfaced in strategic locations in the past few days, though without the logo of any party.
When contacted, the aspirant confirmed his intention to replace the incumbent Chairman of Ikorodu LG, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, on the platform of the PDP.
The young politician cum businessman and humanitarian, explained that the non – usage of party’s logo on the banners, is in compliance with the electoral guidelines.
Awesu, as he’s fondly called, hails from Otambala family in Ikorodu, and contested for the House of Representatives in 2023, but he was unlucky not to get the PDP ticket which was eventually given to his close rival, Mr AbdulKareem Shittu.
The pursuit of the House of Representatives’ ticket, which was very controversial, went up to the Supreme Court where Shittu was pronounced as the lawful candidate of the PDP.
He attended both University of Lagos, Akoka and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – Ife, and this enabled him gained exposure and experience.
Awesu holds a Master’s of Science degree in Transportation Planning and Management from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
His passion and drive have enabled him gained valuable exposure in the field of Construction and Logistics. He has handled numerous projects within and outside Ikorodu.
His experiences cut across Project management and planning, Cost analysis/evaluation, Preparation and analysis of BOQ, Valuation of Work done, Project monitoring, control and reporting, Construction management, Office Administration and Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement and General Logistics and many more.
He gained valuable political, cultural and social experiences when he aspired to represent the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, an aspiration that took him to every nook and cranny of Ikorodu Federal Constituency which is same as the Ikorodu Local Government.
